It’s about balance
Sant is short for Santulan, which means balance. Sant started to promote balance in minds, bodies, communities and the environment.
IT BEGAN WITH A WOMAN AND A SUPER FRUIT
Along the way there was a move to India, meditation, magic pills, immense suffering, a pilot named Raj, veganism, mafias, farmers, government corruption, women self-help groups, Ayurveda and an awakening. The whole story could spur a Hollywood (or Bollywood) movie.
THE WOMAN AND THE WELLNESS WORK
Kim always wanted to be a social worker; however, frustrations with the existing social service system and a serious travel addiction to fund placed her in the corporate world. With a heart in social work and a mind in business, she pursued social entrepreneurship. This interest took her to India.
While Kim went to India to serve others, she found that she needed to help herself first. Kim struggled immensely in India. She had been up for a challenge, but the stress of adjusting to life in Mumbai was higher than she’d expected. Without the support and coping mechanisms she had in the U.S., Kim reverted to an eating disorder, picked up a prescription drug habit, and faced suicidal thoughts. Desperate, she enrolled in a 10-day silent meditation course where she realized that everything she needed to thrive was inside of herself. Her healing journey began moving at a rapid pace. She studied and experienced every spiritual and holistic health theory and modality she could find: Ayurveda, water fasts, various plant medicines, countless body and energetic therapies, hypnosis, past life work, different diets, mindful eating, therapeutic oils, flower essences, and multiple movement therapies. It became clear that for most of her life, her mind and body had been completely out of balance. In the past, she couldn’t see it because being out of balance was normal to her. She had been in misery and hadn’t even known it. Now, after years of work, with an immense amount of gratitude and love, Kim’s purpose is to share and to promote balance in minds, bodies, communities and the environment.
The super fruit – a crop, but more importantly, a community
During Kim’s wellness journey she came across a medicinal fruit. The super fruit’s refreshing flavor and health benefits is what caught her attention, but the plight of the crop and the communities where Garcinia indica grows is what caused her to act.
Sixty percent of the Garcinia indica crop had been going to waste each year. At the same time, families in the communities where Garcinia indica grows had been struggling to meet basic needs. Farmers didn’t have the resources to harvest the crop. Even if they did, they couldn’t command a fair price for Garcinia indica because most people hadn’t heard of it or its health benefits. Sant started to support the local farmers and women’s groups in harvesting the fruit, to make people aware of Garcinia indica, and to bring the superfruit and its powerful medicinal qualities to you in its most natural whole food form. You get a superfruit and communities in need get vital livelihood opportunities. Now, that’s a win-win.
IT’S YOUR STORY NOW
The details of Sant’s past aren’t as important as the present. What matters now is what you think. Try the fruit infusions and Sant sessions and tell others about them. If you have stories about balance or ideas for what else we can do, share them with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
